Work

I developed a passion for food and the science behind food while in undergrad at Texas A&M. After school, I was fortunate to work for a from scratch, boutique restaurant company in San Antonio before fresh, local and authentic were industry buzz words. My onsite foodservice journey began soon after at Motorola Food Works in Austin and throughout Texas.  Food Works was the largest self-operated onsite foodservice company in the U.S. at the time. Food Works blazed the trails with healthy, regional, and high quality food service offerings across the country.

Food Works became the springboard for my career. After Food Works was acquired by Compass I became a regional director of operations for Compass Group, and left to become the global client liaison for Dell Inc., after Dell I became the Director of Integrated Workplace Services for Nike. In 2010, I was awarded the International Food Manufacturers Association Silver Plate Award for Business and Industry Dining where I was recognized for food service excellence in operations.  I maintain and nurture close ties to wonderful industry through the Society for Food Service & Hospitality Management (SHFM) where I have been a board member and maintain ongoing membership and mentorships with young professionals in the industry.  I have a Masters Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport and an Undergraduate degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Texas A&M University (Gig ‘Em Ags). I’m thrilled to work with such a great and caring team of professionals at IHS who love the service industry who care deeply about our customers and clients.

Life

I’m born and raised a Texan and have lived here most of my life.  My work life has afforded me extensive travel throughout the U.S. and around the world and this travel has enriched my life and opened my eyes to such diverse peoples and cultures and I am so grateful. Three of our four daughters live on the East Coast and all are in the service industry; the best gift has been to know that they are happy and centered women, contributing every day to a better world.

When we’re home, we enjoy entertaining. My New York born and bred, Culinary Institute of America trained, husband has embraced Texas BBQ on our backyard smoker. I love to bake – except that I also enjoy eating the fruits of my labor. We have recently discovered beautiful bicycle trails in and around San Antonio and are training for some longer rides next year. I have lots of family near by and truly enjoy them as often as possible.  We are also music lovers and attend many live music concerts in and around central Texas as we can.
